Happy Friday! Hope you've had an incredible week. I'm going to jump right in.
I had a coaching call this week that helped me refocus on what I can control in my life. We talked about the book, The Gap and the Gain, by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy—two people I'm a big fan of. The central message of the book is all about perspective, and it was such a great reminder that I wanted to pass it along, in case you haven't had the chance to read it yet.
A few weeks ago, we talked about the bridge—that in-between space of becoming—and this feels like a perfect follow-up.
Let's say you've got a goal. And let's also say it's a little delusional (which I personally think is the best kind). You're standing at your starting point, moving toward that goal little by little. You're not quite there yet, but you've already made progress—you've done things you haven't done before.
So, here's your visual:
Starting Point → What You've Achieved → Your Ideal
Starting Point → What You've Achieved → Your Ideal
You're on the damn bridge.
Now here's where The Gap and the Gain comes in: when we constantly measure ourselves against the ideal—how far we still have to go—that's the gap. It feels overwhelming. We start doubting ourselves. The journey suddenly looks impossible.
But when we shift…when we pivot and look at how far we've come from the starting point—that's the gain. That's where our power lives. It's the difference between feeling like we'll never measure up vs. realizing how much we've already grown and acknowledging the steps we've already taken.
The gain is where we celebrate our progress.
The gain is where we build momentum.
The gain is where we remember who the f*ck we are.
The gain is where we build momentum.
The gain is where we remember who the f*ck we are.
Right now, this concept is keeping me sane as I work on editing the audiobook for my new book. I'm only on chapter four, and it honestly feels daunting as hell. But I'm doing it one section at a time, and every time I finish one, I let myself celebrate that moment. That's the gain.
So wherever you are right now—remind yourself of what you've already done. Not what's left, not how far you still think you need to go. Look back. See your progress. Feel your power. And keep moving forward, inspired af.
Please share with anyone who may need to hear this. 🩷
Until next week, I love you.
